Metro Vancouver Bumblebee Nest Removals
Bumblebees are important native pollinators in the Lower Mainland. Unfortunately certain species have tendencies to establish nests in locations that conflict with their human neighbours. Joe Wasp has taken a different approach to bumblebee removal.
We have teamed up with Brian Campbell of Blessed Bee Farm, and the Environmental Youth Alliance, a local non-profit organization that promotes sustainability and community through educational programs and initiatives for youth. Every bumblebee nest that Joe Wasp can physically remove will be donated to the EYA’s “Pollinators Paradise Project.” The project is working with local farmers to build stretches of bee friendly plots on the unused fringes of farmlands. Brian Campbell will be working with youth to build suitable bumblebee houses, and to relocate the bumblebees to these organic farms in the Metro Vancouver area. In addition to this, Brian will also be educating the public about these important local pollinators.
